Sandy concluded a 38-year YMCA career, resigning her position as CEO of the YMCA of Great San Antonio in December. Over the course of nearly four decades Sandy worked for five different YMCA associations, filling senior leadership roles in Boston and Dallas before coming to San Antonio. Known for leading with culture, Sandy helped create a winning strategy for the YMCAs and communities she served.
Sandy joined the YMCA of Greater San Antonio as President & CEO in March 2011. During her tenure the YMCA grew to include twelve branches, three early learning centers, a healthy living center, a ranch and 56 after school sites in five counties. Under Morander’s leadership, community came first as she worked to support the Y’s three areas of focus and ensure no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
Sandy’s passion and impact extended far beyond the Y. She was actively involved in community organizations, including the Mayor’s Fitness Council, The Nonprofit Council, Excel Beyond the Bell, and the Diabetes Prevention Coalition. Her volunteer work includes serving on the National YMCA Retirement Fund, as a Board member for the National Employee Assistance Fund, and a member of the Planning committee for the YMCA’s of North American.
Ron brings 29 years’ experience in the Non-Profit and For-Profit Sectors. The most recent position as the CEO of Morgan’s Inclusion Initiative. The Non-Profit included Morgan’s Wonderland, the World’s First Ultra-Accessible™ theme park. In 2017, expanded to include the Ultra-Accessible™ Splash Park, Morgan’s Inspiration Island, which was named on the 2018 “World’s Greatest Places” list by TIME Magazine.
The community need inspired more growth and in 2020, Morgan’s Wonderland Sports and Morgan’s Wonderland Camp, both Ultra-Accessible™ opened.
Ron’s passion has produced Positive Experiential Outcomes and Inclusion Awareness throughout his life. Prior experience includes Indoor Sports Center operations and management, created an Apparel / Ad Specialties Sales company.
Ron has always combined his love of sports and individuals with disabilities while working for or volunteering for Special Olympics Texas, Rotary District #5840, Champions Fore Charity- Valero Texas Open, San Antonio Food Bank, Chamber of Commerce- Celebrate America’s Military, YMCA of Greater San Antonio and The Nonprofit Council. His service included Visit San Antonio- Advisory Committee, World Water Park Association- Government Relations, Coaching High School and youth baseball, Coaching/Board of youth football.
